Phelps, Coughlin and Piersol win Gold

By inthebuff | August 12th, 2008

Last night Michael Phelps won his third gold medal of this Olympics in world record time tying a bunch of folks, including Carl Lewis, for most Olympic gold medals.  Aaron Piersol and Natalie Coughlin both defended their Olympic championship in their respective gender’s 100 meter backstroke.

In gymnastic news, the American men, without the Hamm brothers, took home the bronze in the team event.

LeBron James led the US men’s basketball team over Angola.

I think this picture speaks for itself.  Canadian diver, Alexandre Despatie, shows off his package form.  He may not win a medal, but I bet he’s gonna score.

Thanks for this one, Tim.

For the men

Olympic Gold Medalist Misty May has the round, sexy butt.  I would have smacked it if I was the Prez.  Especially because he’s a lame duck…can you imagine the questions he’d be getting on the lecture circuit if he’d have smacked it?

From the LA Times

[G]old medalists Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh gave the chief executive some pointers. Then after a good play, in the tradition of female volleyballers, May-Treanor turned, bent over slightly and offered her bikinied rear-end for the 43rd president to slap.

“Mr. President,” she said, “want to?”

Want to has nothing to do with it in public life.

Michael Phelps is a god

Going out on a limb here, but I predict Olympic Gold Medalist, Michael Phelps goes  goes 8 for 8.  Good luck, hon!  The toughest one is over – the one against the French.  Rooting for the French is like rooting for the Dallas Cowboys or the Duke Blue Devils.  I question people’s judgement and integrity when I hear that they are not from Dallas or didn’t go to Duke and they cheer for those teams.

Seeing the world record holder get smoked after talking trash was the best thing about the Olympics so far.   Watching Michael pursue Olympic megasuperstardom is another great thing about the Olympics.  And take it from someone who watched Mark Spitz at the infamous 1972 Summer Games in Munich, we need this.  We need this as much as we needed the Miracle on Ice.

We need to feel good about ourselves as Americans again.

Anything about that old quarterback who spells his name wrong that plays for one of the teams that doesn’t play its home games in the great state of NY.

Anything about those professional teams that play east of the Hudson River.   I think you know who I am talking about.

Anything about those professional teams that play in/around the place where we nutty Americans threw the tea into the harbor as a precursor to the Revolutionary War.
